About STAT Care

STAT Care was founded in October 2002 as an Emergency Department Management firm focusing on the critical needs of emergency room patients, staffing, administration and support services. Based in Houston, Texas, STAT Care’s founder has over 20 years of combined management experience in both metropolitan cities and their suburbs.

Physician owned and operated, STAT Care understands the challenges and opportunities inherent in managing a busy emergency department. Patient care is our top priority, handled in a productive, compassionate and cost-effective manner.

STAT Care was founded on the concept that the health and well being of an individual is a joint effort, which includes the patient, the physician, and the medical treatment facility. We strive to create an environment that leaves a lasting positive impression on our patients. Our Emergency Rooms are places that provide superior medical care from experienced physicians with sharp clinical skills, and a caring demeanor.

STAT Care’s leadership team will provide unrivaled support, processes and tools to make your Emergency Department a model for others to follow.

Dr. Miranda is a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician who started practicing in 1984. In 1985, he became Founder, CEO and President of STAT Physicians/STAT Healthcare, which became one of the leading Emergency Medicine management companies in Houston, Texas. Ten years later, while managing thirteen contracts in the Houston area and approximately 120 physicians, STAT Healthcare went public. Dr. Miranda was also pivotal in the mergers of STAT Healthcare with AMHealth, a home healthcare and dialysis provider, and American Medical Response, the largest ambulance service provider in the United States.

Through internal growth and acquisitions, Dr. Miranda garnered sixty contracts in five states. In 1997, the combined entities of STAT Physicians/STAT Healthcare, AMHealth and American Medical Response were sold to Laidlaw Inc. Subsequently, Dr. Miranda decided to take a hiatus from medical management waiting for his non-compete clause to expire. He has been practicing Emergency Medicine at OakBend Medical Center in Richmond, Texas since September of 2000.

Dr. Miranda graduated from The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas in 1981 and completed his residency at John Sealy Hospital in 1984.
